AEZT contains highly current information on medical trends,
management of health services and the pharmaceutical industry.
AEZT contains the full text of all articles from the daily medical
newspaper Aerzte Zeitung and its supplements: Forschung und Praxis
(the science journal), Aerztliche Allgemeine (a supplement on
medicine and social issues), Wirtschafts Tip and the computer
magazine Arzt online. AEZT also includes all articles from the
bi-weekly journal Arzneimittel Zeitung.
The main topics include new developments in medical diagnosis,
therapy and treatment; advances in medical science; national
and international health policies; health management; and company
news, market data and trends in the pharmaceutical industry.
About 70% of the news is devoted to West Germany, and AEZT is also
strong on developments in Eastern Europe; other countries
(including Western European and North American) are covered to a
lesser extent.
AEZT is very easy to use: in addition to date, title and text,
documents contain information categories to facilitate broad
subject searches.
The database is in German.
Use AEZT to answer questions like:

Sources:
Information is taken from 450 national and international newspapers
and journals and from press releases of companies, government
agencies and national and international organizations. In addition,
Aerzte Zeitung's editorial staff in Frankfurt, Bonn, Berlin,
Munich, Cologne and Leipzig provide data from their own original
research and statistical surveys on specific topics.

Berlin(wma). Ein hyperreagibles Bronchialsystem ist auch bei
Patienten mit bis dahin unauffaelliger Anamnese eine absolute
Kontraindikation fuer die Gabe von Betarezeptorenblockern.
Optimal sei eine Lungenfunktionsanalyse vor und nach der Einnahme
des Medikaments, sagte Dr. Stefan Kuehler von der Abteilung fuer
Pneumologie des Berliner DRK-Krankenhauses Markbrandenburg auf
dem 10. Charlottenburger Pneumologischen Gespraech in Berlin.

Betarezeptorenblocker fuehrten nicht nur zu einer
dosisabhaengigen Bronchokonstriktion, fruehzeitig komme es auch
schon zur Beeintraechtigung der mukoziliaeren Clearence. Am
staerksten sei diese Nebenwirkung bei nicht kardioselektiven
Rezeptorenblockern. Die Wirkung sei aber im Einzelfall nicht
vorauszusehen, warnte Kuehler. Auch Betarezeptorenblocker, die
bei einem Glaukom als Augentropfen verabreicht werden, koennen
schwere Asthmaanfaelle ausloesen. Aufgrund der Umgehung des
First-Pass-Effektes der Leber haetten solche Augentropfen auch
immer eine systemische Wirkung.

Oft wuerde die Verabreichung von Augentropfen von den Patienten
gar nicht angegeben, so dass hier gezielt nachgefragt werden
sollte. Bei Medikamenten-vermitteltem Asthma, was etwa fuenf bis
zehn Prozent aller Asthmafaelle ausmache, handele es sich meist
um eine nicht IgE- vermittelte pseudo-allergische Reaktion. Ein
anderes Medikament, was sehr haeufig zu Asthmaanfaellen fuehre,
sei die Azetylsalizylsaeure.
