AHCI - Arts & Humanities Search (R)

Content

ISI's comprehensive reference guide to the arts and humanities.

Arts & Humanities Search is an international multi-disciplinary
database, corresponding to the Arts and Humanities Citation
Index, offering extensive coverage of all the arts.

In addition to conventional search approaches, Arts & Humanities
Search offers cited reference searching, including "implicit"
citations whenever creative works are the subject of articles
without being formally cited. Implicit citations are added for
material such as paintings, musical compositions, literary works
and films and records, as well as dance, music and theatrical
performances.

Subjects covered include archaeology, architecture, arts,
classics, dance, film, history, humanities, language and
linguistics, literature, music, philosophy, poetry, religion,
television and theatre. In addition to journal articles, the
database also indexes discussions, letters, art exhibit reviews,
book reviews, meeting abstracts, performance reviews from the
theatre, ballet, films, radio and television.

Use AHCI to:
- locate art and music criticism from the original work
- check on current performance, play and poetry reviews
- research through cited and cross-references
- find important articles from out-of-print works
- monitor philosophical and theological discussions in print.

Sources:
More than 1,100 of the worlds leading arts and humanities
journals from a broad range of disciplines are fully indexed.
In addition, individually selected relevant material from over
6,800 leading science and social journals are also included.

AB - Abstract:
This paper replies to Politzer's (2007) criticisms of the
mental model theory of conditionals. It argues that the theory
provides a correct account of negation of conditionals, that
it does not provide a truth-functional account of their
meaning, though it predicts that certain interpretations of
conditionals yield acceptable versions of the 'paradoxes' of
material implication, and that it postulates three main
strategies for estimating the probabilities of conditionals.

Notes on AHCI

Guides:
Online guide in BASE database - search BASE-AHCI Automatic
plural-search:

..SET PLURALS ON will operate in this database

Cited references:
CR may be searched for "implicit" citations, entering the words
Illustration or Complete Musical Score and performance(s)
qualified to CR, to retrieve citations to actual works.

Numbers of CRs:
Some documents may have several hundred cited references. Before
printing CR or ALL, check this by printing NU to ascertain the
length of the document.

Using PT=:
AHCI contains references to an unusual variety of document-types.
Search qualifying to PT to refine your retrieval of specific
items like music score reviews, poetry, art exhibitions,
corrections, items about an individual; and LIMIT on PT= to
exclude unwanted types of reference.

Since 1997, publication types can also be searched using the PT=
quick code. The most commonly used publication types are:
PT=J (Journal)
PT=S (Series)

Cross-reference:
XR shows alternative spellings for names in AHCI, with the
PREFERRED spelling flagged, to enable other documents
concerning or citing the same name to be retrieved.
