CUBI - Current Biotechnology Abstracts

Content

Full coverage of technical, scientific and technocommercial
literature for the biotechnolgy industry.

CUBI is a current-awareness bulletin, produced by Royal Society of
Chemistry staff, that contains references to published biotechnology
information. It is a subset of the Chemical Engineering and
Biotechnology Abstracts database (CEAB) - also available through
DatStar.

Abstracts are either of a technical/scientific nature or
technocommercial. The latter cover business news, legal issues and
safety. The technical/scientific abstracts cover, principally,
techniques an ecific industrial areas. Techniques relate to topics
such as genetic manipulation, monoclonal antibodies, enzymology,
single-cell proteins and fermentation technology. Among the many
industrial areas covered, special attention is given to
pharmaceuticals , energy production, agriculture, the chemical
industry and food. Information is also included on forthcoming
events, books and general reveiews.

Use CUBI to answer questions like:
- what books are available on biotechnology in agriculture?
- what articles are by A. Fiechter have been published since 1988?
- how does spicamycin affect promyelocytic leukaemia?
- what patents are available on immobilized glucose oxidase?

Sources:
The database is produced jointly by The Royal Society of
Chemistry (Cambridge, UK) and The DECHEMA (Frankfurt, Germany).

Over 500 of the world's primary technical journals are scanned for
biotechnology information every month. Items selected include full
articles, reviews, patents, technical news items, press- releases
and book announcements. Approximately 20% of the database covers
patents and some 10,000 documents are added to the database each
year.

Abstract
A review with 88 references. The technique of molecular
imprinting allows the formation of specific recognition and
catalytic sites in macromolecules by the use of templates. The
stability and low cost of molecularly imprinted polymers make
them advantageous for use in analysis as well as in
industrial-scale applications.
