DCPU - Derwent Crop Protection File (ceased updating 2003)

Content

The Derwent Crop Protection File provides information on all issues
concerning pesticides and other agrochemicals.

The Derwent Crop Protection File provides coverage of studies
carried out worldwide on pesticides, plant and insect growth
regulators, attractants, repellents and biological control. It is an
excellent source for information on all aspects of agricultural
chemical products, including experimental results.

Each document contains an abstract written by a Derwent subject
specialist and is accompanied by extensive indexing allowing highly
specific retrieval.

Abstracts are in English, with bibliographic details and address
information provided for obtaining original reprints. DCPU would be
of particular use to information specialists and scientists involved
with agricultural pest control.

Use DCPU to find information on:
- the side effects of insecticides on natural insect predators
or organisms released for biological control
- fungicide toxicity to wildlife
- adverse interactions between soil applied insecticides and foliar
herbicides
- environmental contamination by herbicides

Sources:
Information is taken from approximately 1200 scientific and
technical journals worldwide, with over 40% of coverage coming from
conference proceedings and meetings reports. From the beginning of
1996, coverage also includes basic patents from 40 patent issuing
authorities. DCPU corresponds to the hard-copy Derwent Crop
Protection File Abstracts journal.

Abstract (A1 A2)
Greenhouse tests compared the effect of chain length and per cent
ethoxylation of primary linear ethoxylated alcohols (alkoxypeg)
on post control of Sorghum halepense, Sorghum bicolor and
Elytrigia (Agropyron) repens with primisulfuron (PN). Control was
greatest with PN applied with an experimental 70% ethoxylated
alcohol additive containing carbon chain lengths of 14 and 12
(60:40 ratio); control was reduced when an additive of decreased
ethoxylate content or carbon chain lengths were used. PN and the
additive gave control equal to or greater than X-77, Sylgard,
Scoil (methylated seed oil) and Agridex. PN applied alone in a
volume of 320 l/ha provided greater control than in 160 l/ha,
however, control was similar at both volumes following addition
of the experimental additive. (No EX).

urticae.
Triazole compounds of formula (I) and their salts are new: Het =
a group of formulae (a) or (b); X1 = halo, alkyl, alkoxy,
haloalkyl, alkylthio, NO2 or ethylamino; X2 = halo, alkyl or

alkynyl, haloalkyl or haloalkenyl; m = 0-4 and when m = 2 or more
then X2 may be same or different; n = 0-5 and when n = 2 or more
then Y may be same or different; Z = CR2R3, CH2O, or CH=CH; R2,
R3 = H, halo, OH, alkyl, alkoxy, haloalkyl, alkylcarbonyloxy, S

Notes on DCPU

PN/PD/PR/RF - Patent information:
Information on patents has been added to the database since the
start of 1996 only.

DE/CT/LT - Descriptors:
A standard list of descriptors is used in the indexing of this
database. Additionally, chemical ring codes and terms to define
chemical properties are used. Search as:

1_: CHLORDANE.DE.
2_: INSECTICIDES.DE.

For a more specific search, link the descriptor with one or more
chemical qualifiers using the WITH operator, eg:

3_: HEPTACHLOR WITH (DM OR TR)

At the start of 1996 use of the LT paragraph in DCPU was
discontinued. All descriptors are now given in the CT paragraph.

You should always qualify descriptor searches to DE rather than CT
or LT - this will ensure that documents are retrieved whether they
were loaded into the database before or after the start of 1996.

For more information refer to the BASE database, search as
BASE-DCPU.

Search options:
..SET PLURALS ON and ..SET MEDWORD ON can be selected in DCPU.

..RANK and ..MAP: Are available in the AU, SO, CO and CT paragraphs.

Guides:
The guide to DCPU is published in the DataStar Chemical Manual,
Berne and online in the BASE database - search as BASE-DCPU.
